@TheWrongsystem ruined? I think not. I think it has perhaps been saved from the landfill. Old becomes new. One little chiptune modified piece of hardware isn't going to put a dent in the 3 trillion units Nintendo sold. Go pour a whiskey on the rocks and knock one back for this dead, but reborn, gameboy.

Do i really need to pay the extra bucks for a pro sound GB? or is there a way around it to play live gigs

The Game Boy sound is very weak by default, with little or no bass. So if you want to play a live chillout it may be adequate. But if you need better representation in the bass department you have to pro sound mod your Game Boy. Because the modification kicks out the Game Boy beats louder with more powerful basses and clearer highs.
