You're obviously one of those people who don't like to lose arguments but if you take a deep breath and read my comment again you'll see that I was talking about the studio's wishes not Stallone's. Stallone may have had no intention whatsoever of making a sequel but that's not my point.

Thank you for the information. In the article in Newsweek magazine it said on the captions from the photos that Sylvester Stallone had no intention of making a sequel. I guess Newsweek lied.

Yeah. People forget Stallone's comedic talents. Or maybe they just don't appreciate them as none of his comedy films have been a success.

Given the huge amount of money that Rocky made, the studio would have demanded a sequel regardless of the box office of either of the two films you mention.

More needs to be said about the quality of Stallone's directing. Even though he's a first-time director he directs with the skill and confidence of a veteran director!
