DREAM Graduation

[WASHINGTON, DC] - Durbin spoke to a group of DREAM Act students at a "DREAM Graduation" ceremony held on the morning of June 29th, 2011. The DREAM Act would allow a select group of immigrant students with great potential to contribute more fully to America. These young people were brought to the U.S. as children and should not be punished for their parents' mistakes.

@desertdiva2u Even if you are not Christian, as an American you should care about giving another person a chance to succeed in their life too. That is what an American should do. The economy is obviously poor but however, it will inevitably improve. In the past it has been poor before. But after every single time somehow we've found a way to come back. Nothing is impossible. Therefore, we Americans can find a way to come back from this recession with multiple benefits. Everything is possible.

@desertdiva2u And yet another person who calls them-self an American? People from all over the globe look at Americans as selfish people. Putting people above yourself and others is understandably hard to do. However, America is a Nation under god, indivisible and contains justice for all. We are a people under god. The giving god who gives us everything we have. He is a god who cares and teaches us to treat our neighbors as brothers. We should have been taught to care and to give.

@DMajor239 Yea complete ignorance of what immigration is about, what immigrants are about or even economics or politics....it's not black and white there's a lot of grey area and people don't understand it and continue to criminalize immigrants by calling them illegals. No person is illegal!
