ATM Theft Caught On CCTV

Bexar County deputies are asking for the public's help in finding three men who stole an ATM out of a West Bexar County convenience store earlier this month.

The incident, caught by surveillance video cameras, took place Nov. 3 at Valley Mart, in the 15300 block of FM 71 West.

Deputy Chief Dale Bennett, a spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, said a stolen utility truck the men used to steal the machine is suspected of having been used in a similar robbery in Bandera County last week.

On the video, three men — two of them with covered faces — were seen breaking into the back of the store, wrapping a chain around the ATM and pulling it loose. The ATM and the stolen truck were both recovered in Government Canyon State Natural Area, but the cash machine was empty. The truck had reportedly been stolen in Utopia on Oct. 28. I hope these meth head good-ol-boys know that the money inside of the ATM's are in 5 inch thick steel and once they crack it open the machine sends off a signal alerting the company and sending them the GPS location of the machine.
