chase has actualy suggested 'tony' survives, so i dont know where you got that "generally accepted" thing from.chase always said its open to interpretation and given his hints the common interpretation is tony didn't get killed. but thats only from those who dont crave the typical holltwood dramatic kill everyone' ending. chase was always about realism. the ending didnt need a dramatic "answer" to it all. it was just a family eating dinner, the same family we'd watch do "normal"stuff for 6 years
