In this funny little film from Coronet, we learn that no one will ever accomplish anything in life without speaking well (especially like a "sports announcer"). We follow young Tom Webb as he progresses (with help from his dowdy speech teacher Miss Taylor) from a state of unintelligible babble to one that at least allows his classmates to "understand what it is he is saying."

Bid on the complete, original 16mm print on eBay through May 1.

  • alice and bill are dickheads!

  • Wassamadda?

  • That's Tom Webb speaking....

  • @rosrychaplet another one I see written all the time is..... "then VS than". ...."than" is a comparison....."I'd rather have pizza THAN hot dogs"......."then" is a point in time....I will eat lunch THEN go home.......and don't even get me going on "ask VS axe"

  • too many people talk like him before improvement today. soo much that they are misspelling words on social networks!!!! should have not should of.

  • @millza1988 Oh dear...

  • Its kinda sad how now a days teachers seem more concern with children reading at their proper lvl rather then proper edicate. But, then again thats what makes each of us unique.

  • Is this some cheap version of Pygmalion?

  • I agree! It sounds quite different than what I hear people speak English. Ever notice how announcers in the 30s,40s,50s all sound a like? Why is that?

  • Very interesting - Ive noticed how much the USA accent has changed since these movies were made and also the Australian accent - its almost like a dialect.
