Few people in India know about Bagels, and I can safely say that they are not many places where you can find Bagels in India. However, if you are craving for a Bagel, and if you want to take a break from a typical Indian breakfast, then try The Bagel Shop in Bandra. The Bagel Shop is in an old Portuguese villa, and it makes it feel like a cozy and comfortable home.

Given the novelty of bagels, it is fast becoming one of the most popular breakfast places in the city. The Bagel Shop has a wide range of bagels. You can customize your bagel, and mix and match with lettuce, peanuts, salmon, and one bagel is a complete meal in itself. "The Bagel Shop started as a personal need, because I felt that in Bandra you do not really have good breakfast and lunch places. Bagels, they are more healthy than bread, actually, so that is how the concept started."

If you want to go in for something conventional, or if you are trying the Bagel for the first time, you can go for a plain Sesame Bagel or a Cream Cheese Bagel. Non-vegetarians can go in for the smoked salmon bagel, the BLT, or the club chicken bagel. "It is like being in Europe in India, so it really makes me feel at home. I usually start with an egg-white omelet with tomato, garlic and onion on a multi-grain bagel. And in the afternoon when I come back, I always have the tuna salad."

The vegetarians can go in for the grilled vegetable bagel. The Bagel Shop also has a good range of smoothies. The chocolate smoothie, which is said to be the best in the city, and this, the blueberry smoothie. There are also various options in teas and coffees and salads. I like the green tuna salad.

It is very cozy and homely inside, with a lot of reading material catering to a variety of people. There is also the internet wi-fi system here, and you will find a lot of people coming and sitting here alone and enjoying their meals.
