@coolastro I'd really recommend considering chrome decal material or even on the cheap try aluminum flashing tape. Cutting out little squares of glass mirrors sounds like wayyyyy to much work.

@MrXstacey You should look up apexwave solar
This guy has a Solar Umbrella I was thinking about making one it's big and look's portable

@coolastro I'd like a dish bigger than this one, the smaller ones you could probably pasteurize but doesn't have the ability to really cook. The biggest test on this size I took a frozen slow cooker meal. the label recommends slow cook for 8 hours or minimum 4 if in a rush. The solar cooker overcooked it in 3 and a half hours. A little bigger than this dish I think would be perfect.

I know, vegans say meat eaters are eating dead animals, yet they eat dead vegetables. As they start withering imediately when pulled from their life force.Hypocrits!
Great video. Inspirational and really fun. Thanks Mr X
I found out that a flat metal tire iron fits perfectly into the support arm. I'm going to try using that to hold a chain and lower a heavier pot to see if I can spread the focus out more and get better heat distribution so the food browns evenly. If it gets hot enough I'll try using a small roasting rack to get the meat up out of the juices/fat drippings.I don't know how to keep it stable unless I place bricks on the wood-any ideas?

@3344utube this vid may give you ideas on keeping a level surface for cooking /watch?v=cVosClqnVF0 inverted on a stand may be the way to go. Yeah the wood I used was just some crap I found kicking around, a wider base would be much better. Bricks might be a requirement in windy areas especially. You might find spreading the focal point too much just warms things rather than being able to bring them to a boil, well at least with this size dish. Focal point = temperature control perhaps?

I used the Mylar from the inside of snack packages as reflector material,it was free. Bubbles formed with wide strips because trapped air was harder remove on the curved surface.D'oh! I'm surprised that the white glue worked so well. Why do you have it screwed so far forward on the wood base?
Can you use a thicker pan that might hold the heat better? The first test made a piece of newspaper burn really fast. I used dark glasses but it is so bright. How can I make it safer for my eyes?

@3344utube I used an 8" chrome decal material, and experienced the same thing. I think a 2-3" strip would work best to prevent bubbles. with snack packs, maybe 2" x 6" patches would work well. On the wood, this was an experiment and it was a heavy wood, albeit rotting, was what I had nearby. Thicker pan? hmmm, in a windy area may store more cold. not sure on that one.
