I agree with you.. Cossotto was doing her job.. which was to turn in an superb job of singing her role in Norma.. Callas was not in good voice for those performances for reasons totally within the control of Maria Callas. And I love Callas too, but she was the problem not Cossotto..

@vanzofaust I know...the hair looks like '67. :-) There's an
interview w/Cossotto in this program and they mentioned
it was 3 yrs. after her Met debut in '68. I'd upload the rest if
it if I could figure out how to do it safely.

It looks more like 1967 than 1977. So I agree with you. 1971 seems plausible.

@Zerbinetta2000 accadde questo: nel primo atto cantano insieme cossotto un la mentre callas un do, ma la callas non stava bene e non cantò il do, la cossotto fu accusata ingiustamente di aver approfittato della situazione per mettersi in mostra e zeffirelli che era il regista pur non presente quella sera disse: la cossotto non canterà più con me.

I don't think the quality is that bad. The reason it isn't wonderful is because it's a non-commercial (i.e. rare) clip and thus comes from a multi-generational source.
The letterboxing here also only happens when converted on youtube. It is not letterboxed when played on my computer or DVD player.
