In "K2: Life and Death on the Worlds Most Dangerous Mountain", Ed Viesturs explores the remarkable history of the mountain and of those who have attempted to conquer it. At the same time he probes K2s most memorable sagas in an attempt to illustrate the lessons learned by confronting the fundamental questions raised by mountaineeringquestions of risk, ambition, loyalty to ones teammates, self-sacrifice, and the price of glory. Viesturs knows the mountain firsthand. He and renowned alpinist Scott Fischer climbed it in 1992 and were nearly killed in an avalanche that sent them sliding to almost certain death.

  • I lost count of how many times he said "I", and "me".

  • @boomdeyadaa if you ever come to pakistan islamabad do let me know if you wanna party mate

  • @sweetnothing1977: And no one has summited K2 this year as well in 2011. The season is about to end and looks like its gonna end up with just 1 summit in 3 years on K2. Speaks a lot about the mountain itself.

  • fuckin badass

  • Great book! Truly inspiring! I hope to climb K2 in the future. However, I am glad that I listened to my instincts while climbing Aconcagua. Although it is definitely not in the same scale, difficulty, or danger as K2, listening to my instincts saved my life. I'd be frozen somewhere at 6000m had I not. Glad I read the book No Shortcuts to the top!

  • yeah both annapurna and nanga parbat have higher death rate but when a man says this about k2 and when hes climbed all of those mountains, hes right, he also says its the most deadliest, math goes out the window, i believe hes earned credibility. sorry, he said k2 is hardest and most dangerous im gunna go w him

  • @omtomt8787 Ok I was talking to azzy314 on the "nothing comes close to it", not what Ed said. Look stats say Annapurna = the most deadly so if you want to argue w/ Math then go ahead. I'm not discounting difficulty I'm talking dangerous. K2 is widely said to be the most difficult but I'm not talking that I'm talking dangerous. 2X death rate = most dangerous end of story.

  • @seige184 ummmmmmmmm. well im gunna listen to a man who has climbed both, and when he says k2 is the hardest to climb, im gunna listen to him, nont u who has not climbed either mountain

  • K2 is k2...no match

  • K2 is for Men......
