Nine out of ten Europeans would like smoke-free offices and public places, according to the latest EU survey on tobacco. But in spite of this vast and united front against smoking, 15% of deaths in Europe are still smoke related. The EU is therefore stepping into the lead in the fight against tobacco. A key element in the campaign is Help: for a life without tobacco, one of the largest public health awareness initiatives ever launched.

  • Funny how they don't mention the 10% drop in the number of pubs in Ireland in the first 12 months of the anti smoking law. It seems this was made before the England ban which has caused a twentyfold increase in pub closures. Geneva & Bavaria have overturned their bans due to the economic damage they cause. NHS figures also show NO CHANGE in death rates since the UK ban, putting the lie to the "thousands die of passive smoking" myth. AND smoking rates have increased in the UK. Lies, lies, lies

  • "I would ban smoking all across the EU. I hate coming back from a pub with headache just because few people has been smoking."

    Don't go?

  • @maygenta Carbon particles are carcinogenic, end of. Not even tobacco companies argue that any more. Burnt toast is carcinogenic for the same reason. If you're still unsure about that, you need to check whether you really believe the earth isn't flat.

  • This message was paid for you by Phillip Morris.

Remember kids, one out of two doctors recommends Marlboros.

  • CORRECT.... just like a meal is not complete without a good drink...

  • Hey, I don't get it. Why are the pubs going out of business so fast? Their food must stink because I just know that non smokers drink on occations. The fact that you can't smoke should effect your eating or drinking. Do you mean to tell me that you can't enjoy a drink or a meal without having a cigerette?

  • stop smoking, it's a european tradition!

  • Very biased, maybe they should show how pubs are closing down every week due to the law.

  • Biast video.

  • Passive smoking damaging non smokers to the degree they are saying is pure crap. Its much more likely that fumes from traffic cause most of these passive smoking caused cancers and diseases etc. Eg:- Guy works down in mine, but gets lung cancer and blames it on the passive smoking he experienced at lunchtime due to his work mate, not on the continous dust intake of his job. Ridiculous. And more ridiculous is how people believe all this shit propoganda without question.
