Hurricane Iniki, just before the eye. September 11th 1992 kauai

Home video taken in Princeville by my brother and I while he, I, my Dad, Sis-n-law and a friend endured hurricane winds approaching 145 mph as we crowded together in the breezeway just before the eye approached. No one goes through a hurricane like that and not come out changed in some way. This was just 2 minutes out of 6 hours of wind and worry.

I was in Maui for a week and stayed at the Kaanapoli (sorry if spelling is wrong) Shores Hotel where their sirens were going strong off and on throughout the days. Then I went on to Kaui from there where I learned about the hurricane coming. It turned so dark outside that I took a picture around 12 noon and it looked like midnight, so scary!
