The Classic Theatre, Dayton Ohio "I'm Old Fashioned"

The Classic Theatre, a lost treasure from Dayton, Ohio. The theatre was located on West Fifth St. An empty lot is there now. These are probably the last photos taken of the theatre before it was destroyed. I'm Old Fashioned
These are just some of my local theatre photos. This is not a history of the theatres. These are my memories of these fabulous theatres.

I have photos of the Palace just before it was demolished. I will get them together soon. I wish I had photos of these theatres operating in the Prime of their life.

Thanks for posting... Does Dayton have any theatres left? At least you have a working trolley system. I worked in Miamisburg for a short time.

Amazing to see any image at all of The Classic. Great to know images were archived. Everyone who was anyone in jazz had played there, from the 20's onward.

Very nice playing and registration; this is remarkable sound for a '60s analog organ. Most sound pretty cheesy by today's standards.

It just goes to show you that city politics just can't these old theatres alone! I am glad that the Fox in St. Louis was saved!  And it is still running strong! And it's organ is still playable.

I'm something of a Dayton history buff and had the opportunity to see the Classic a few times before it's ultime demise.  I'm piece of my heart breaks every time I see a local treasure, large or small, boarded up or demolished.
