A "noisy toy" tank converted to an RC vehicle. Apparently this platform is sold as an RC product for $60 and up, which would explain the differential drive gearbox inside. The battery pack from a rechargeable Black and Decker drill from Wal-Mart powers it nicely...

  • man your amazing.were did u learn this stuff must have taken ages to hook up

  • @ken9073 Thanks. I have had electronics as my hobby since I was 9 and I am just starting to feel like I am actually getting somewhere in terms of being able to make things. It took lots of time and lots of revisions to get the tank to the point you see in the video. I never took a video of the "latest and greatest" version, but I was using XBee radios and completely eliminated the PC in the control loop. I was having gearbox problems and set the project on the shelf in order to focus on others.

  • love the song

  • @SuNcho0o3 Thanks. Gotta use royalty free music ya know ;)

  • Love the fact you used a propeller, and thats a great hacked toy turned bot! got a link to the toy tank?

  • @LWorsham4 I started with the Basic Stamp (I noticed you had a video using the Stamp), but when I tried out the Propeller I completely fell in love with the microprocessor. I found the tank platform at a Dollar General or Family Dollar. I think it was an RC tank that didn't pass quality check so it was converted to a "noisy toy." I don't have a link at the moment but at one point I had found the full RC version of the tank online for ~$60.

  • great job on electronics but you should put some stronger springs in the front road wheels to get the tracks on the ground.

  • REALLY GOOD JOB MAN!!

our group figured that we need tracked vehicles, but none of us know about the connection between the tracks and the motor. How does it work?
