It's a tune brought to Shetland by Arctic Whalers from Greenland, in the 19th century as far as I know.

Strange yes, I think there's a Scandinavian influence there.
Old Daingerfield? I'm no Bill Monroe but I might give it a go sometime. It's bluegrass (not my usual) so might take a while to get into. There are already some cool versions on YouTube!
