Turkish born Arif Mardin was part of the legendary Atlantic Sound that included Armet Erthugen, Tom Dowd, Jerry Wexler, and Joel Dorn --all of whom are no longer with us. These two cuts are off Arif's 1974 solo album Journey and is part of a suite entitled Street Scene. Enjoy.

  • pretty gangsta.

  • @roscoegino in fact he was the one he had the idea that the bee gees should sing 1 octave higher. and they had success with that. before there werent singing those high pitched notes.

  • Thanks for posting. I recognized the intro music as being from the Herbie Hancock Sextant album - another classic.

  • KIIIILLLLIN IIIIIT

    CHHHHHHHEAAA

  • WOW...this is good stuff! Thanks for sharing this with us!

  • I wore this album out when I was younger

  • YES, it IS the same Arif Mardin that worked with Chaka Khan, and Aretha franklin, Dusty Springfield, Bee Gees, Phil Collins, Bette Midler, Hall & Oates, Jewel, and Norah Jones to name a few. I used to work for Mr. Mardin actually. This is off his own artist album: Journey

  • He also produced Norah Jones' first two CDs, "Pick up the Pieces" by Average White Band, "Wind Beneath my Wings" Bette Midler. I had the pleasure of working with him and his son Joe. Geniuses are best when they are sincere and kind.

  • same one. he produced the bee gees as well.
