My wife and I ordered the game, the Flame Thrower expansion, and the Small Boxx last night. Is it true though that the only new card in the Flame Thrower pack is the flame thrower? I heard that the zombies in the pack are already in the game.

@JosephandElissa No, there are actually some new zombies in the expansion. I can't remember which ones exactly as they have been assimilated into my deck, but there are some new looks.

Sorry, accidentally posted too soon... I was going to say that I think if you are learning the game, it is better to just keep the zombie cards in the game. The game wasn't as fun without the creepers. So I recommend that new players should learn with the zombies in it.
