To set the record straight, the man responsible (who I won't name, but is pretty well-known in the Who fan community) has always claimed it was a set-up, and he IS a professional actor, so the chances are it was, and was just an excuse for Johnny Vegas to 'defend The Doctor'. :)

@SontaranCyberman I know (I don't think he's a professional actor, but has been in a Big Finish play or two and does interviews at conventions), if he really was set up, he really shouldn't have taken part as it makes Doctor Who fans look like the geeky werido's people perceive us to be. As a Doctor Who fan, it looks cringeworthy to me, hardly funny.
