5th Round game against Ipswich. Rovers were robbed! Check the disallowed goal - the defender played the ball in! I was 10 yards away in the front of the North Enclosure and saw it clearly! Ipswich went on to win the cup instead of Rovers! ;-)

  • I hate to break it to you, but this was a fifth round game. Even if Rovers had won, they would still have had to beat Millwall, West Brom, and Arsenal to win the Cup. Besides, didn't Rovers get a chance to beat Ipswich in a replay and lost, 3-0?

  • Er, if you click on 'More info' I say 5th round game.....we were lucky to get that far - and I was at the replay - could have been 10 nil for Ipswich. But one doesn't stay a Rovers fan for long if you want to support a team that wins regzlarly! :-)

  • Ipswich had to have those orange shirts specially made for this match because they couldn't wear either their home or away strip as Rovers had both blue & white on their home shirts & Ipswich wore white shirts when they changed. They also wore those orange shirts at QPR the next month, but whoever picked the white away strip should have realised that Ipswich couldn't wear a white strip when there were teams who had lots of blue & white on their home strip. Before this season, yellow was worn.

  • Hi, just interested....he was onside because an Ipswich player passed it back to Gould. If a Rovers player had passed it, he would have been offside.

I'm not 100% sure on the rule so anyone that could clarify for me!! Thanks great upload!!

  • game should never been played in those conditions

luck plays a big part in the fa cup our name was on the tophy its a simple as that

  • I'm a Town fan, I was there, standing almost where the camera was and you're quite right, it wasn't offside. Rovers played really well that day in impossible conditions and when I saw that third "goal" go in I was convinced we were out of the Cup. But, as I've always said, you need more than a little luck to win the cup, we got a very jammy last-minute equaliser and we won the replay fairly easily. The rest, as they say, is history.

  • Fucking gashead scum!!!! Up the City!!!

  • @mukatuna It might in the lower leagues but the premier ? The little loves might get cold handies.

  • This was the first proper football match I ever went to. My mother took me and my sister. Although a Liverpool supporter, remember cheering Rovers on and the orange ball.

  • @mukatuna lol. Look at that! they are wearing vests and long socks! their thighs are bare!!! they are crazy!

  • I remember that freezing snowy winter of 1978. Would football be played on such a snow covered pitch these days?

  • Nice one mate. I was at the Leicester game, all i can remember was a massive punch by the tunnel in the embankment after the game, i was only about 9 and we had to leg it to the car!
