This is a performance of One-Winged Angel by the Chicagoland Pops for the worldwide premiere of PLAY: A Videogame Symphony. The performance was conducted by Arnie Roth. Sorry it cuts out at the end, the memory stick became full. D'oh! Interestingly enough, the standing ovation was so powerful after this song concluded that they performed an immediate encore! I bet Uematsu-san was pleased, he was in the first few rows. I got to shake his hand outside the theater!. For pictures of the event, head to http://img.underthefade.com and check out the Chicago 5-27-06 gallery. Ignore all the foolish shots of me and my friends.

  • one of the most important masterpiece of gaming music history. One thing I wish is that the chorus could have been more explosive with text and hence would enhance the drama.

  • this is not the AC version

    1.there is no guitar

    2. the lyrics are different

    and some other differences

  • @oODajmarNOo Did the female voices sing "Gloriosa, generosa" or "Haryuu no hanekata"? Both have been claimed to be the proper lyrics at 3:34.

  • @koopatroopaxo I was there on the mezzanine balcony of the Hult Center. It took all the self-restraint I had to avoid bursting out and singing the lyrics fortissimo.

  • My choir is joining them in Dayton at the end of March. We're singing this, so I'm looking it up to see how we can improve.

  • @ardjoena I actually participated in the choir once in Stockholm and the piece is arranged in the way that the orchestra is supposed to play very expressive and forte, even during our parts, and it's really hard for the choir to get through. An idea would be to use a bigger choir with maybe 70< singers. And we also started rehearsing the songs about a week before the concert...they tend to focus on the orchestra.

  • I just saw this performed in Eugene, Oregon. Absolutely amazing. You have no idea how awesome it is live until you see/hear it.

  • that song reminds me of the first best rpg ^^

  • i wanna see play! now!

  • Best part of Play!
