  • Let me "think upon this for a second:"

    1. the founding fathers kept slaves

    2. they denied women, the poor and racial minorities equal citizenship

    3. they tolerated and financed the massacre of the Native Americans

    4. they occasionally engaged in piracy off the Eastern Seaboard

    5. they brewed alcohol and had their slaves grow tobacco and hemp

    6. they were members of the Masons, a secretive group charged at the time for secret homosexual activity

Just think about that for a second.

  • I don't need a second to think about it. The Founding Fathers knew how religion warps minds, that's why they went to great lengths to exclude religion. Thomas Paine is a good example, if you would like to start somewhere with your research: you clearly haven't started it yet.

  • it wasnt a big deal and contrversy back then all the presidents up to abe lincoln smoked canabis and opiuts have been a big secret part of u.s echonomy even back then :D

  • I take it the "force people to swear upon the Qur'an," part was somehow a jab at the current president? You're an ignorant douche. If you can point to a time Americans have EVER been legally FORCED to swear upon any religious book, I will take this back.

  • BEHOLD! THE SUMMIT OF MT. DUMBASS! Stupid Conservative jackasses.

  • So I'm assuming you travelled back in time and personally asked the Founding Fathers about their views on gay marriage?

  • what song or who plays the intro in the video?

  • "...laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind... as that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, institutions must advance also, to keep pace with the times.... We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy

as civilized society to remain forever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors." - Thomas Jefferson.

  • Considering that the founders persecuted the rightful inhabitants of America (i.e., the Native Americans), "owned" human beings, heavily tax farmers, not pay the veterans of the American revolution, severe whiskey taxes, only allowing certain people to vote, not contain any checks against cartelism (gee, I wonder why?) the Christians can keep them.

  • The Founding Fathers all wore pantyhose and wigs - have a look at the images in this video. They also wanted laws and the constitution to be based upon reason and not upon religious dogma. If you genuinely stand for the principles of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness how could you possibly oppose Marriage Equality?

  • @Jeremy1281988 I haven't listened to more than 5 minutes of beck, and that was just once. He is a liberal. He believes in man made global warming.

  • As for gay marriage, I would think the founding fathers would tell the government to stay the hell away from that, that it is not their business. It should be left to the states.

And DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) is unconstitutional, as studied in plenty of political science classes. If a state doesn't want gay marriage, then fine. If another wants it, then fine as well.

Just like cell phones and cars and all that, the founding fathers probably couldn't comprehend gay marriage.
