Redline 2 (also know as Redline Arena) was the sequel of Redline, a post-apocalyptic combination of FPS / Car Combat game that was released in 1999 for the PC. Redline Arena was going to be developed for the SEGA Dreamcast, but in the end it was cancelled. Somehow the project was used as a prototype for Motor Mayhem, a PS2 game that was released in 2001.

  • This is really a demo running on DC?... the stage looks so big... amazing.

  • This is the early PC prototype: Redline Arena was going to be an "upgraded Dreamcast port" of the first PC game, so they just started to work on the original Redline engine that they had around.

  • i was just saing that the the Dreamcast was capable of suporting halo with no problem unlike the ps2, the ps2 cant handle tons of Dreamcast games like shenmue, sonic adventure 1 and 2, jet set radio, those are the reasons why shenmue 2 got ported to the XBox and not the ps2, the reason that Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 got ported to the Gamecube and not the ps2, and the reason why jet set radio future is only on xbox and not on ps2, i'm not comparing this game to halo, halo was just a exenple

  • why are people comparing this game to halo? this doesn't remind of halo at all. More like unreal tournament, quake, or something else. I def agree the Dreamcast had better looking graphics than the PS2 (I owned both of them) but its not the same as Xbox

  • @sl0wm0 Unreal Tournament,Quake,and Carmageddon?

  • @Tinhh, @Tinhh, part 2

About the ports, its true, unfortunately Sega lost tons of money, Shenmue was and still is one of the most expensive games ever made; Well at the time Sega guys said that Shenmue was ported to the XBox because on the the ps2 would not handle it, it would not look has good has the original Dreamcast version,

Oh well, its been years since the 128BIT generation, and i don't really care about who's more powerful Dreamcast or ps2 no more, theyre all great consoles...

  • @Tinhh, That comment was made a year ago, im not a fanboy no more,

Well, SA1/2 look better then Unleashed texture wise, not trying to be a fanboy, but i didn't like Sonic Uleashed, neither the graphics nor the gameplay,

Burnout, Black, SH and GT4 1080i on the Dreamcast? Maybe, i think the Dreamcast could run those games, geometry and texture wise, maybe even with better textures since its has more VRam, but i don't know, has you said, we can only speculate and theorize...

  • does anyone know where i can download this?

  • Shenmue cant be on ps2 too much high res textures. Thats why it was ported to the xbox

  • @dinizgames Uh you're wrong. Shenmue could'vebeen ported to the PS2 if sega wanted to. But MS signed the US publishing rights of Shenmue for the Xbox. The PS2 is very a capable system which could easily play games that were made for the DC.
