Former pornstar Jersey Jaxin tells anti-porn activist Shelley Lubben why she quit the business. It should be noted that many people in the industry would dispute Jaxin's claims.
@DarkprinX2500 Name these "societies" and document a causal link to these "benefits". Unlike you, I also count prostitution as a "profession" if it's done right. Perhaps you can explain why prostitution is "despicable" while you're at it. You "respect women too much to allow them to do this to themselves"? That sounds like the epitome of patriarchal oppression to me. "Selling is legal. Fucking is legal. Why isn't selling fucking legal?" - George Carlin.
@blackcinnamon Sasha Grey was once asked if she was afraid of catching diseases in her profession. She pointed out that she makes six figures+ a year doing what she does while military men risk their lives for a pittance. She asked the interviewer, "Why don't you go ask a soldier if he's afraid to go to war?" That's brains on a level you can't compete with. Go peddle your holier than thou somewhere else.
@blackcinnamon "Disgusting" is just your opinion. The porn industry doesn't treat women like scum, it treats them like a a commodity. Which I am sad to say, is what we all are. Work for awhile in a poor factory town for a temp agency or in a coal mine. You'll know what it is to be a commodity and you'll beg to be valued for something other than your sweat and blood. Work like that and see how long it takes you to look in the mirror and wonder how much money you can make in porn.
@DarkprinX2500 Oppression is in the eye of the beholder. Ask someone like Sasha Grey, Lorelei Lee, Jenna Jameson or Nina Hartley if porn oppressed them. You'll get a whole different answer. Then talk to washed up athletes or doctors who've lost their license and you'll hear them tell you how "oppressive" their former profession was. It's all a matter of perspective. Anyone who can't see that is just an idiot.
Meanwhile there are also former pornstars who credit the industry with giving them notoriety wealth and opportunities that they otherwise would never have had. In ANY industry this far from the norm you're going to get people far from the norm. This means everything from brilliance to self destruction to idiots who don't even understand the consequences of what they're doing. This girl is just at that one end of the scale, that's all.
