Top Black Females in Rock: After Dance/Disco music went underground in 1980, Donna Summer went back to her 60's Rock roots and launched a hopeful but short lived Rock & Roll career. The results were another 2 Grammy nomination for "Best Rock song" in 1981 & 1983 The media poised her as the black Pat Benatar. This song "Cold Love" was Donna's 2nd single off the rock LP "the Wanderer". It was one of the rock songs nominated at the 1981 Grammy award show. Donna Summer is no stranger to Rock & roll, In her teens she joined a Psychedelic-Rock-Band called "The Crow",named because Donna was the only black member of the group. At eighteen, Donna Gaines (Summer) left home and school to take up a major supporting role in the hippy Broadway Rock musical, "Hair".

  • Look at the comments below, everyone seems to love this album. Yet, it is the only Donna CD that has NO dance music on it. Looks like everyone will love also love Donna's next new CD 2008 Crayons. It to is a all mordern pop album with really NO club dance music on it. The Wanderer and Crayons seem to have that in common,,,lol Cant wait untill May 20th!

  • This comes from such a great album!

  • Yeah, I think ROLLING STONE Mag gave it 4 1/2 Stars **** 1/2 !!!

  • That's good to know! I think "Grand Illusion" is my favorite song on this album. I love Donna's falsetto on that song, and I loved her falsetto on "When Love Cries"--my overall favorite Donna Summer track, from another album.

  • "When Love Cries.. great song!..I love Mistaken Identity lp.

  • l listen 2 this song now,and l think 2 myself, eh, nothing great, but l remember her performing it live, what seems, a lifetime ago and remembering that, along with Jimi,s Purple Haze,Seger's NightMoves from the movie AmericanPop and the blazin' guitarsmanship of Ernie Isley, the tapestry of music was 4ever changed 4 me!!! As a Black Man in America, 2 know that l did not have 2 accept barriers or parameters in music, or even life, 2 this day, l'm greatful 4!!! Thanx 4 posting this video. PeacE

  • This was definitely one of her better post-Casablanca albums. Out of all the producers she's worked with, only Moroder, Bellotte and Harold Faltermeyer have been able to get the best out of her.
