I remember seeing an old cartoon like this many years. One bug was caught by another and a third had to save him. Apparantly they were bees because they had a swordfight with stingers. I don't remember if it was a Terrytoon or not but that short sticks out in my mind for some reason.
This was directed by Mannie Davis & George Gordon {he'd later migrate to Hollywood and join MGM's animation staff in the early '40s, and eventually become a key animator in John Sutherland's industrial animation unit by the '50s}...
Yep! This was before the TV came along where they showed the original Terrytoons shorts for syndication purpose. All of the Terrytoons TV titles were slightly altered with just the titles and copyright without the original credits and end titles. Castle Films did had the rights to produced the Terrytoons for home purpose long before TV. The TV Terrytoons titles were made by CBS-TV.
Castle Films had the rights to reissue Paul Terry's "Terrytoons" for 16mm home movie use (both sound and silent versions) in the 1940's- this is an excellent example. I believe this was originally released as "The Busy Bee" (1936).

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! As you know, black-and-white Terrytoons are scarce. Love Philip Scheib's music and those operatic voices.
