@RealityCheckHero It was an angry, jeering statement, which we all do. How many times you've said the f* word at someone? Does it mean you actually intended to do it? Rushdie's book as provocative (for example, about Abraham, he writes, "There goes the bastard"). So, Yusuf's retort wasn't like what we don't do in our daily life.
You've posted this a year ago; but, then, this reply is for others.

Say, "Do you worship besides Allah that which holds for you no [power of] harm or benefit while it is Allah who is the Hearing, the Knowing?" Quran 5:76
Say, "O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the soundness of the way." Quran 5:77

Yusuf Islam said: "Salman Rushdie must be killed. The Q'uran makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die."
(Source: Philadelphia Inquirer, February 24, 1989, p.5A)
Yusuf Islam is a two-faced phony who talks about peace one day, and calls for murder the next.

This kind of thinking is very dangerous, you are turning what is Haram to Hala and what is Halal to Haram.
This is why I say to learn with people of knowledge instead of your own, you will make major mistakes when learning on your own because you cannot question a book.
And who said that I follow blindly? I question the scholars, not in a harsh way but in a way to get knowledge, this is the only way to learn.

Well this is making haram the halal me friend. If I was to say that in order to invite someone to Islam you have to go to the pub and give dawah while drinking with them would that make it right?
A Muslim has to make sacrifices in life and our aim is not to please the people but to please Allah. I don't care if people want to hear music I will never support it or even if I was a nasheed singer I will never do it because Allah has clearly mention in the Quran that it is haram.
-
I never said anything like that about Shia's. You are not understanding and twisting my words.
Everyone is judged by their own intentions.
I prefer to follow a scholar because I know he can teach me the Quran, Sunnah and Hadith better than I can teach myself. I don't like to make mistakes.
-
I don't follow scholars that go against the majority of scholarly opinions or the Ulama.
Even the Prophet (PBUH) said you should stick to the majority, its in a hadith.
-
I don't follow scholars blindly, in fact I search and look at their history through their Ijaza and Isnad.
Your reading Sahih Al Bukhari but he is still a scholar.
A good scholar does not care if they are attacked by humans, they will only care if Allah is happy with them but that does not mean we should attack these scholars, we should respect those that try to spread the knowledge.

Our prophet wanted to teach the Jews that Islam has room for merriment and that he himself was sent with a moderate and flexible legislation.we need to introduce Islam to others in a good fashion, along with displaying its moderateness and magnanimity.
Cat thought exactly the way you thought and stayed away from music for almost 3 decades, and he realized his mistake,he said he was abrupt and harsh, had he not done that,he'd have attracted many more to Islam.lets agree to disagree and end this.
Just sit still and listen to the song instead of babbling about believes and faith. -_- Enjoy Yusum islam.:)
