It's a shame that no one makes movies like this anymore, and nicholson is already over 40 in this film :/

Anyone remember the second version? I have a memory from my childhood when I was 6-8years old and saw that movie, then dick(the black funny guy) came back to the place and jack hit him in the back with his axe, then I dont remember anything until dick came back with that snowtractor and saved them :p

The woman (I don't know who she is or the actresses name) is a TERRIBLE actor. I can barely stand the part where he's breaking the door with the axe and she's screaming. *Shakes head in pity*

"She doesn't seem to create a believable role"

ja - guess that's an aspect of what makes jack go crazy - he is digging deeper and deeper into a (mad) role, while she is so "leight" so easy, nearly floating through the hotel.

I think she does seem fake in this scene, perhaps that was intentional? She seems to be walking on eggshells with her lout of a husband and pretending to be the cheery wife is part of that.
