Plan of Clydebank (before 13-14 March 1941)

Clydebank is the home of some of the world's finest-built ocean liners, and tens of millions of Singer sewing machines. However, during World War II, it tragically became the worst-blitzed town in all of Scotland. It has also borne actors (for example, James Cosmo), artists, athletes, entrepreneurs (Duncan Bannatyne OBE), film-makers, and musicians (Wet Wet Wet).

The areas seen on this plan (map) from pre-Blitz Clydebank are Mountblow, Dalmuir, Parkhall, Duntocher, Hardgate, Kilbowie, Drumry, Linnvale, Whitecrook and Yoker. Like other schemes, Faifley did not yet exist.

  • Hi

This plan is post war, it shows Boquhanran housing scheme which wasn't built at the time of the Blitz

  • @flyingchilders Thanks! It was before my time, anyway! I'm going to try to get it dated.
