What happens when a music major takes an Anthropology class. My song written to commemorate Homo Habilis, the first ancestor to humans in the genus Homo. Yes I am lame for trying to rap. The song is an original song I made for the sake of the project. Enjoy! :D

Lyrics:
Homo Habilis,
You followed those Australopithecus,
You showed more signs of humanity,
and you're the first of the genus Homo,
That led to me.

So it started with Tchadensis back in the day,
Then Tugensis and Ramidus paved the way,
For the Australopithecines, gracile and robust,
And from the gracile Africanus came one of us,

Homo Habilis,
You set us up for Erectus,
Who would travel the world,
But it was you not he,
Who was the first of the genus Homo,
That led to me.

So let's talk about the facts of this fossil,
That helped it handle a world so hostile,
They found two skulls in Kenya and now we wanna,
Speak of the finds at lake Turkana.

Habilis had a broader diet,
A larger brain,
A long flat face,
He had smaller teeth,
And less muscles for the jaw,
No sagital crest,
And as for the rest,
There was still a little prognathism,
And what's more he used the tool style Oldowan.

Oldowan tools were the thing in the day,
Free sharp things you would use to play,
With. Or you could use them to scavenge some food,
In a hurry before the tiger changed it's mood.

Yes, Oldowan tools were the best you bet,
Not hard to make just follow these steps.

1. Find a rock
2. Find another rock
3. Strike the two rocks together in such a fashion that sharp long fragments will come off that look somewhat like small knives that you can use for many miniscule tasks you might find in Kenya.

Homo Habilis,
They called you handy man cause-your tool use,
You could be dimorphic, or two species,
But you're the first of the genus Homo,
That led to me.

Yeah,
Homo Habilis,
You followed those australopithecus,
You showed more signs of humanity,
And you're the first of the genus Homo,

Break it down now,
Tchadensis, Tugensis, Ramidus, Anamensis,
Afarensis
Maybe Garhi,
Maybe,
Habilis! Habilis!
Erectus came after that,
and today we have Sapiens because of that

Oh,
Homo Habilis,
You followed those australopithecus,
You showed more signs of humanity,
And you're the first of the genus Homo,
Yeah
Homo Habilis,
You followed those australopithecus,
Now all of us can finally see,
You're the first of the genus Homo,
That led to me!
