Nepali football - Sportsworld - 4 March 09

Football in Nepal is going through a difficult time - the domestic league is only just re-starting after a two year suspension and the national team is ranked down at number 173 in the world - sandwiched between the Seychelles and Bangladesh.

Despite this, football is still the most popular sport in the country and there is now a concerted effort amongst both the men's and women's game to put the bad times behind them.

Sportsworld's Andy Richardson reports on the resurgence of football from Kathmandu.

Once, Nepal was a dominating team in South Asia...Football was in every Nepalese blood...Stadium was always packed and fans were always energetic and supportive...football was religion back then...it was the favorite time-pass after school and during holidays...Nepal showed lot of potential and promise for the future but because of bad politics and lack of care came the downfall of Nepalese football...i donno wat to expect from the nepalese leaders
