Perhaps on the most gut-wrenching poems I have ever written, this is the poem to accompany a monologue about "becoming black". It is still untitled.

  • This was...wonderful, truly inspiring.

  • I feel you so much. I was treated the same.

  • Kirya, I saw you in Chicago a few weeks ago. You are my hero...

  • Yeah, I know how she feels. I don't like when black people judge other black people. They don't even know that individual's personal experiences.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • I saw you perform this live and was so moved and inspired by your poem that i kept thinking about it for about 2 weeks after....then on saturday I was at Marin Academy for the UNcensored youth conference and was shocked and excited to see you perform again. Your spoken word is seriously some of the most beautiful i have ever heard. You are so inspiring, i can't wait to hear you again at the Grand Slam this weekend. GOOD LUCK!
