Multinational corporations are targeting one of Alaska's last wild places for a dirty mega-mine that could trigger an ecological catastrophe.

  • I live in the lower 48 but we have a lot of commercial fishermen that come to Bristol Bay. I just learned about the Pebble mine 3 weeks ago and I have some questions. First off tho let me say that this was a good video.

#1. What do the mine engineers say about the Pebble?

#2. The detractors sound like the same kind of people who were against the pipeline.

#3. What is the plan to dispose of the arsenic?

#4 What are the economics of the mine verses salmon fishing,

  • @B17Boy Damn, you're stupid. You just don't get it. I never said I was against all mining. I made it quite obvious that I'm against mining IN CERTAIN AREAS. Would you be ok with putting a highway through the middle of your house? How about a public restroom? No? Then get the hell of the roads and don't ever use any public restrooms. Damn hypocrite.

  • @BuildingCastlesMusic - You are a hypocrite. You are still using a computer that uses gold and copper. If you support stopping the mining of gold and copper, then sell or recycle your computer. As I said, take the lead and stop using all things with gold and copper in them. You'll have to move out of your house/apartment because of the copper pipes. No more cell phones either. COME ON! Be a good little bundist, step forward, and do your enviro-whacko thing!

  • @B17Boy Yup, just like if someone wants to mine in your backyard and you know it's going to cause cancer and other diseases in yourself and your family, if you don't support that, you're a hypocrite, because if you use those products, then you must support mining ANYWHERE. Right?

  • @B17Boy That argument is fallacious at best. Again, no one is saying do not mine copper and gold any where ever again ever! Specifically (or at least I am) they are saying do not mine copper and gold at PEBBLE...That is all.

  • @billychristopherson7 - An enviro-moron is someone that claims to be for protecting the environment but their actions belie their words. That is, they want to stop the mining of copper and gold to protect wildlife but they use things like computers and cellphones that have copper and gold in them. If you believe so strongly in something, then take the lead and stop using all things that have gold and copper in them. Otherwise you are a hypocrite.

  • @B17Boy Wait, first of all, what is an enviro-moron? And second of all, no one is saying don't mine gold and copper anywhere, we are saying don't mine it at pebble and risk ruining alaska best renewable resource...

  • Hmm. Let's see. We have a bunch of enviro-morons commenting here. Which means they use computers. And those computers have gold and copper in them. If you are against the mining of gold and copper, why are you using any type of computer product? Please spare me your pretentions about how you need to get your message across. If you believe in something, then lead the way! Stop using all things with copper or gold in them. Dont' be a hypocrite. And if you respond to this, your still a hypocrite!

  • Who cares about stuipid gold and copper?! All I care about is the wild life!

  • The toxic mining waste in an earth quake zone is a frightening thought. Why, with those facts, can this project even be considered????
