That is very interesting. I have heard about native Americans playing games but never really looked into their gambling/board games before. Seems like a great winter past time since you don't need to move around much and it can be played at a feast or just hanging out with your buddies from the other plank house.

One might even add two more sticks with a third pattern if they desired more complexity. Thanks for explaining, I understand now.

A question about the game:
Based on the rules given, it appears that the design of the sticks is irrelevant. It only matters if they appear face up or down.
Why are there two matching designs? I was expecting a level of complexity using matching patterns in some way.

those are marked male and female...all up or all down or half and half works easy for kids...you can arrange the pattern how you like..you can do all up or down for 3 points, any pair for two points, and half up half down for one...
