Just a quick video to explain the dangers of working en pointe without supervision. Far too many girls are posting videos demonstrating pointe work when they are not strong enough! I hope this video helps everyone to understand just how dangerous this can be!

  • the point she is trying to make is that pointe work can be dangerous if you dont have good technique and are not supervised. you can injure yourself. its not that its not possible, its just very dangerous

  • i think you can practice what u learn in class at home that's just practicing! but u definitely need the permission of an instructor to go on pointe

  • but...but...BUT!......

  • treated!

  • @moo9612 She's more of the exception than the rule

  • my teacher was 10 when she taught her self at home she made her own pointe shoes out of duck tape and shes never gone to a single class of ballet in her life, except from when she was in the westend about 4 years ago she lived in london now she teaches her own ballet class and she does it correctly but i had to quite because i moved to barry ok so you can easily teach your self en pointe ballet shoes at home by yourself or with a friend so.....

  • Are we allowed to do rises at home on pointe?

  • @BWdanceforeveryay

i have your same problem, Id also like to know if there are any books or videos like movie types to show how to do it properly because i cant spend $80-$100 a week taking pointe or ballet classes.

  • So what do you do when you're considered too old to learn pointe work (i.e over 40 years old) but never had the chance when younger? I go to adult ballet classes but we are not allowed to go on pointe or even wear pointe shoes. Sometimes you have no option but to teach yourself :(

  • My problem is that I can't afford to do ballet, and where I live there aren't many places to do ballet even if I could afford it. Are there any books out there that can teach me pointe at home. I understand it's dangerous, but I really want to learn how. Please help!

  • U can always hold on tj the barre doing releves like that. Only a bad teacher would tell u not to when it doing something like this to improve strength and make sure ur safe.

  • When you are doing the single leg rises can you hold onto the barre?
