This world is filled with suffering for various reasons and causes. Sprinkled in are moments of great joy and large segments of contentment. You sound like a pretty nice guy and your honesty is admirable.Try not to be too hard on yourself. Also you would be amazed how many good women out there who are lonely for all sorts of reasons that would love to have a guy like you to make a life with. Best wishes buddy & God Bless!
Hi Carl, I was diagnosed with lymphedema in late May. It's just in my left leg and it wasn't something I was taking very seriously until I came across this video. Thank you for your honesty and for letting us glimpse what life is like. It helped me to give this disease it's due and keep up with all my doctors and therapists orders. I hope you are doing well and hanging in the there.
Hey Carl, your legs are not gross. Don't be so hard on yourself. My leg was 111cm and it's finally going down with treatment, however now I do have loose skin and you know what? I'm proud of my loose skin, it means I"m making progress and if other people don't like well tuff crap. It seems its been along time since you've been on here but I just wanted you to know that it'll be ok. You can get it down. You can find someone to look past your legs.
I am so sorry Carl. I know you don't want sympathy, but I honestly have a lot of it for you. Legs are just legs, you don't have to stop living because of this. Even if it comes down to losing your legs, it isn't worth killing yourself over. I know what it's like to be stigmatized, please don't give up. I know you probably have been through a lot of changes since this video, but it really moved me and I couldn't help but write.
So how did the job interview go? Curious on an update since this video was made almost 3 years ago. Have you ever thought there might be a woman out there that is completely understandable regarding your lymphedema?
I am 28 and have hereditary lymphedema as does my younger sister and mother.
If you ever want to chat about Lymphedema or anything, let me know.
Carl , I have been thru some tough times too with LE, thank God my disability came thru and I was able to get medical attention when I did , I could have lost my legs , I had open wounds on my legs. Now after about 5 months of treatment i have one small wound left on my right leg and it should be healed in about 5 or 6 more weeks. I know the struggle I am a big guy 6 feet 5 , 400 plus lbs trying to lose weight and back in my younger days i was a fantastic athlete. i am 48 now.
Gosh Carl, to make these videos and not talk about the pain. You show great control. I too lifted weights and was quite physical in my youth. I always had jobs that required me to stand. All bad things for the veins. Bad veins seem to run in the Family. When I rested I would not put my feet up. For the past couple years I mostly sleep in a chair. I know now this is all bad news for my sirculatory system. Now I learn we have a Lymph system too, not just glands. Stay strong, we can make it.
I hear where your coming from Carl. My husband of 34 years left me because he did not believe me when I said something was wrong. He actually told me he was leaving because of my appearance and because I was lazy. Now that I have a diagnosis his sees he was wrong, but it is too late to save the marriage. I am lucky to have friends that love me, but it is still a very lonely disease. I hope you are still hanging in there and have found a treatment that works for you.
<3 Hope all is well with you - last I heard you were in the hospital again ; ( Come find me when you wanna catch up <3
