ZIZEK! is both an unforgettable lesson in philosophy and a compelling portrait of an intellectual maverick.

"Zizek!" is a feature documentary exploring the eccentric personality and esoteric work of the "wild man of theory": the eminent Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek.

American/Canadian documentary film directed by Astra Taylor. Its subject is philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Žižek, a prolific author and former candidate for the Presidency of Slovenia in the Council of Presidents of Yugoslavia.

Slavoj Žižek (pronounced [ˈslavoj ˈʒiʒɛk]; born 21 March 1949) is a Slovenian continental philosopher and critical theorist working in the traditions of Hegelianism, Marxism and Lacanian psychoanalysis. He has made contributions to political theory, film theory, and theoretical psychoanalysis.

Žižek uses examples from popular culture to explain the theory of Jacques Lacan and uses Lacanian psychoanalysis, Hegelian philosophy and Marxist economic criticism to interpret and speak extensively on immediately current social phenomena, including the current ongoing global financial crisis. In a 2008 interview with Amy Goodman on the New York City radio show Democracy Now! he described himself as a "communist in a qualified sense," and in another appearance on the show in October 2009 he described himself as a "radical leftist".Žižek is widely acknowledged as one of the foremost intellectuals of the radical left.

  • @hainlighe who are you talking to

  • Around like 45:00 he seems so coked out.

    Love Zizek.

  • @lbalanovsky you are wrong. the arab world has produced most of the great philosophers , historians, scientists, musicians, filmmakers, writers

  • Is this supposed to be satire? It's damned good satire if it is, and even better if it isn't.

  • Anyone know if his mentioning quantum physics is at all accurate? too lazy/ busy to look it up, thanks

  • lool 2 lesbian progressive politically correct loool

  • Ironically Zizeks strategy of writing is the same strategy i use while reading. I trick myself into "just reading certain parts which are important", then i fill in the gaps by "reading the parts which are less important so i can understand the important parts" i never read his work from cover to cover xD.

  • the internet is full of cheap trinkets littered over swampy ground, they`re seductive momentarily but you can lose hours if your not a little disciplined.zizek certainly rivets you, shakes all those nasty trinkets off and electrifies.bracing stuff and my compass shows true north , i am awake again.

  • @Thorpwnsjesus Yet, riot is not Zizek.

  • @Theknopf read joffe's uberpower. american stupidity is a myth of european creation. Americans have produced most of the great philosophers, historians, scientists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, etc. in era. It is a simple European jealousy which drives this myth and a eurocentricism generated by a classically fixated european public. In the postmodern American, Indian, and Russian art and intellectualism lead the permeation of the monolithic ideological wall erected by modern culture.
