On October 13, 1951 the Pope's Legate, Cardinal Tedeschini, was sent to Fatima for the closing of the Holy Year. He told the crowd that Pope Pius XII had himself seen, repeated in Rome, the Miracle of the Sun that had occurred at the last Fatima apparition. It is clear that the Holy Father chose Fatima for this major event, to bring attention to the Message of Our Lady of Fatima. The Holy Father had, in fact, been graced to see the Miracle of the Sun on four separate occasions the previous year: October 30 and 31, November 1 (the day Pius XII solemnly defined the dogma of the Assumption), and November 8 (the octave of the same solemnity).

Here you will see the devotion of the people.

This is a link to the story of the three children who saw the apparition of the Virgin Mary.

The news was confirmed by the Roman Society for Pilgrimages, an institution dependent on the Holy See, which is organizing pilgrimages to the Portuguese shrine for the occasion. The public will be able to take part in the Feb. 19 event, which will included a procession to the Chapel of the Apparitions, Mass, and the transferal of the remains to the basilica. The remains of the religious, who died at age 97 last Feb. 13, will rest next to those of her two cousins, Blessed Francisco and Blessed Jacinta, who also witnessed the Virgin Mary's apparitions with her. The liturgical memorial of the blessed is celebrated Feb. 20.

  • I was there. It was a great experience

  • @branie99 Were you really! I would love to hear your story about this event and your experience. It has fascinated for years these films. We sent a copy to Fatima to a man who worked @ the university there and he was going to make sure it was seen there. I hope it did happen. If you don't mind I'd love to hear about your time there. Thank you!

  • Any further info to share about John DeMello, the man video taping? Details of his life? thanks!

  • @vangelisfan ) actually just saw this was answered before)

  • Can anyone explain why they walk on their knees and not remain on their knees in one spot. Would be interested to know more about this act of devotion. Thanks

  • @Fatima1950

    Thanks.

  • @Fatima1950 My dear friend. How do we tell the difference you ask? Well, God gave us His Word. You understand that and so do I. If any person or apparition tells us something which is in contradiction to God's Word, then we will know it is not from God. One example.....the Fatima apparition says, "Only my immaculate heart can save you." This is a complete lie. Only Christ who died on the cross can save us.

  • @johnthreesixteen316 Well some could B & others not. How can we tell the difference? I want to believe I don't need to believe & if something is trying 2 send me or anyone a misguided message then so B it. I will find out in the end the truth. Till then I will continue to walk in my journey of Life and do the best I can as a mortal being.
