Many marine species coexist to create the balance maintained in ecosystems.
I walked my dog along the Puget Sound in Washington. Here we see Harbor Seals (Phoca vitulina) and several species of marine birds, including (but not limited to): Herring Gull (Larus argentatus), Red-Necked Grebe (Podiceps grisegena), and a variety of Cormorant (Phalacrocoracidae). All of them are competing for resources, in this case, mostly food and space.
