@clazza01 Agreed, What happens to the little children of the family is to me about the saddest incident in English Literature. Not much fun in "Tess of the d'Urbervilles" either and very little in "Far from the Madding Crowd".

@sk1bianca It's a pretty true representation in terms of chronological details. A lot of the character development is missing though. Especially in terms of Sue. The film makes her a lot more one-dimensional, while she's really an incredibly complex character.
