In which Matt talks to himself from ten years ago.

If you don't know what this is about, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB60i-sqlW0

Basically, the idea is this: if you send a message back to yourself from ten years ago and tell him or her ten things, what would you say?

  • :) I like these. It's interesting hearing about little things that helped make people who they are today. I wrote some ideas for it immediately after seeing the original, but I have been too lazy to film it. I need to do that.

The computer advice was a good idea. 13 year old me could've used that too, but I don't even know what I would say. "Stay away from them, they are evil! Well, no, just know that it doesn't matter what you do- you have the Touch of Death with electronics. Sorry."

  • All of that computer advice is courtesy of my uncle, who is the one that most frequently fixes my computer when it breaks down, and who has been pushing me toward Macs for the last few years. Should've listened to him.

Can't wait to hear yours! I enjoy watching these. :)

  • Dear 14-year-old Matt. Listen to this guy. TALK YOUR SISTER OUT OF THE PERM. Do whatever it takes. Offer her money ($50 is the going rate for hair deals with her), threaten her, shave her head in the middle of the night, whatever it takes.

    Dear 24-year-old Matt.

    I love you. :)

  • I think the shaving her head thing will appeal to 14-year-old Matt. :)

    Love you too.

  • YAY! a mac convert! =D

  • Yeah. Using a PC all your life will do that to you. :)

  • Yeah, that's true. You sort of make people want to know more about the things you mention too.

  • The time travel is the easy part, you just have to encode the video on a stream of tachyons not electrons OR get the CD-ROM past the speed of light for long enough...there might be string theory solutions too, but I'm going to stick to the standard model for this one.

Now..........where did you leave your infinite power source?

  • Either that or he just didn't remember them all. That's more likely. :) And he probably still chickened out on the first one.

I love how the question isn't, "How are we getting the message back in time?" but rather, "How is the technology going to be compatable?" Oh, Aristotle . . . :) But we can probably assume that I burned the video to a CD-rom and got it to14-year-old Matt that way.

  • That's why they're such fun. You can tell people about yourself without telling them about yourself. Or something like that. :)

  • These are the kind of questions that make my sister's head hurt. :)

I think it would be interesting to find out what might have happened had I done those things. I think the only major changes would be that I would be using a mac right now and one of my ex-girlfriends might be the girl I had a crush on in eighth grade. But I don't know . . . hard to say, really. :)

    Ah, the butterfly effect . . .
