Watch Part 1 Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUg4Sn3IYvw

Trainset: 0708, 0709, 0710, 0711.

February 20th, 2008. This day is the first day that the first set of the new Siemens 0700 series cars go into service.

This is Part 2 showing how the train handles curves and the tunnel.

I kept the camera at the window because the other passengers did not want to be on film.

*This is the first ever video of a trip inside of the new train* As of the time that I uploaded this video, there are no other videos of the inside of this train. This is the first!

  • Where does that tunnel at 0:41 pass?

  • Frankfort st. And a couple other streets. It's so that the airport area can be accessed from East Boston under the I-90 bridge.

  • can you get footage of from maverick to goverment center

  • not right now. I think the hype around these new cars has died down. If I were to ride them again, I probably won't take another video.

Meanwhile. I am taking a trip down to greenbush this weekend. Maybe I'll take some highlights.

  • i love aiport but could sliver line go to the airport instead of switching buses at each terminal

  • They make use of the door buttons now at Bowdoin. At Bowdoin, the 6 car trains pull the first 2 cars into the tunnel and the last 4 cars are "user operated". The train's operator can see and close the doors because there are cameras and a tv screen inside the tunnel.

  • there are 8 cars in service right now.

    0702/0703, 0708/0709, 0710/0711, 0712/0713

  • Um, I think so.

However, I read in the newspaper somewhere a couple years back about how the MBTA is not complying with an accessability law that requires all rapid transit lines to interchange with each other.

They were proposing to close Bowdoin (that's confirmed) and extend the blue line to Charles/MGH. (still on the drawing board)

If this does happen, it will still take a while for them to extend the track and dig the tunnel, build the station, etc.

  • yes, but they are not 6 car trains. The platform at Bowdoin is not long enough. The platform can't be extended because beyond the platform is a small track area where the train swtiches ends.

When the 6 car trains start running, Bowdoin will be closed indefinitely.
