It's our most important resource and energy companies don't have a great track record especially in the US where our safety standards tend to look good on the surface but when they are looked into have a lot of oversights. Your response is typical. Here is an interesting fact: this methane will not hurt you if you drink the water. The only danger posed is the accumulation of methane in your house.

All of that being said, this entire problem can be prevented by properly venting wells. In fact, if you look up the literurate published by your state on how to properly install a well they will discuss venting; this is why.

Not the only problem. A gas well just blow up not far from my house. Shook the whole town. It was 6 miles away. I have one that is less that 200 yards away. I tried to tell everyone in my neighborhood that taking the money from the gas company so they can put wells on their land is a bad idea but no one would listen. So now we have to pay for a bunch of damn rednecks who want a quick cash instead of safe water and no bombs in our yards.
