Cheryn Salazar, a sufferer of Trichotillomania ("trich") since 1972, is a founding member of the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC) www.trich.org, & has overcome her own personal battles with trich as well as helped thousands of others over the past two decades, including two of her own children who have had variations of trich.
Cheryn is the author of two books, You Are Not Alone: Compulsive Hair Pulling, the Enemy Within, which shares her own personal story and recovery process physically and emotionally, and What's Happening to my Child? A Guide for Parents of Hair Pullers, which offers helpful advice for parents or family members of children who pull. Since 1993 she has opened Cheryn International (www.cheryn.com) offering natural looking false eyelashes, eyebrows and other related hair loss products to help restore a feeling of beauty and normalcy. For over a decade Cheryn has, and still continues, to offer free support and counseling to pullers or their family members.

  • I just love you Cheryn!...Oh My God if I could have eyebrows would be a lifetime dream/wish! Pam

  • You are so precious!!! Just replied to your other email but Hi again!!!! :)

  • Its good to see more people spreading awareness. Ive had trich for 12 years. You can get through it though..I uploaded a couple videos of my own experience, if youre interested.

  • Hi Nichol. I would love to view your videos. I'm not sure how but I will check into it. :) Glad you got to "meet me" through mine. I hope to meet you through yours. :)

  • I've had this problem for a long time... it's tough. Stress is a big factor, especially when I pull them out it feels so good afterwards. A bit like drug or food addiction. I used to have beautiful eyelashes... now they're still pretty but I'm scared to lose all of them. Still trying to stop, keep it up fell trichos! :)

  • Hi Nina. I am so glad you wrote. Have you met many other trichsters! Hope your pulling is doing better. :)

  • i love this video as well. thank you so much for sharing this.

  • I love this video. Thank you so much for sharing it. I started crying when you described the first time you met Christina Pearson. I am almost 18 and have had trich since I was 9. I have yet to meet someone like me, and I think that's one of the worst parts about the disorder, but I am coming to the TLC retreat in September (since it's close to my house), and I can't wait :)

  • Thank you, I have had trich all of my life. Since I was about 2. I don't know anyone with it personally. I have shaved my head because I wanted to stop... that was in 9th grade... I have been made fun of, people in school are cruel. They called me baldy and would mock me all of the time. There was one time in high school, a girl that sat next to me actually asked me to pull my hair out. I don't pull my facial hair, I knot it up and pull out 'chunks'. So, thank you for sharing!
