An English folk song about a man who had a seaside puppet show. He'd sit on a plank astride a packing case and make the plank vibrate by striking it with his fist. The puppets on sticks would bounce up and down on the plank appearing to dance.
Whiskey on a Sunday
He sat on the corner of Bevington Bush
Astride of an old packing case
And the dolls on the end of his plank were a'dancing
As he crooned with a smile on his face..
Chorus:
Come day, go day, wish in my heart for Sunday
Drinking buttermilk all the week
Whiskey on a Sunday.
Well his tired old hand drummed the wooded beam
The puppet dolls they danced the gear
A better show than you could ever have seen
On the pivvy at New Brighton Pier
Chorus...
In 1905 old Seth Davy died
His songs were heard no more
And his three dancing dolls in the dustbin there ended
The plank went to mend a back door..
Chorus....
On some stormy nights, down Scotty Road way
When the winds blowing up from the sea
You can still hear the songs of old Seth Davy
As he croons to his puppet dolls three
Chorus .....

Thanks for the nice comment. The guitar is a Guvnor GA300 CE semi acoustic. Made in England, (and not an expensive instrument, retails around UK£100) with a nice sound.
