I saw this movie once when I was a child, I never knew the name and only remember bits and peices of it....a bar of soap, a fire, smile for bread....that was 10-11 years ago. I finnaly know the name and intend to download the film and read the book. I cant remember why but this movie left some kind of impression on me. I guess Ill rememeber why when I finnaly see it again. Thank you.

WTF the story takes place in 1950s but that was a modern plane at the end?!?! And he never gets on a plane in the novel and I thought Maria was supposed to be beautiful?

I read the novel for english class in Year 8. It looked kind of drab at first, but it was great! The movie is nowhere near as good as the book..
