RJ has a competition coming up in the state of Washington and he needs to work out his run and learn some new tricks. What does it take to learn new wakesurf tricks? It takes 3 things. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, AND MORE PRACTICE. Everything is hard until its easy. In part of our 201 series, we wanted to show one of RJs practice sessions so you can see how many times he must repeat the same trick before he can become proficient at it. He has been especially working on his "ollie AIR" and the "stall 360". The "stall 360" is a variation of the 360 that favors a SURF style board, vs a skim style board. A surf style board is not designed to spin like a top. The 360 can be a difficult move for Surf style wakesurfing. Its tough to practice also, because you fall everytime you don't land it. In this practice session, RJ is finally starting to land them about as much as he doesn't. He is OVER the hump!
So have fun wakesurfing out there, and keep practicing!

  • Hey, how fast were you guys going?? I usually do about 9.6, is that okay

  • @Tiessenator It depends how much weight, and your boat. Go to wake9.com in the community section and post in the forum, we will be glad to help.

  • What size board would you recommend for someone 5:10? Is there a specific brand that you endorse and if so why? Many thanks for your help :)

  • @davearamanuku go to our site wake9.com, and then to the community section. There is a forum where many people ask questions like that. There are many boards that would work for you depending on your weight.

  • What type of boat do you use and what speed are you going to?

  • @Caltilo69 We are going 11mph on a 2007 Tige 24Ve, and we now use a 2010 Tige RZ2.

  • thats pretty sick, I just started wakesurfing this year behind our 2011 Tige Z1 with surf ballast (1600lb) I'm looking to start doing some tricks pretty soon so I'm just going around looking and studying different surfing videos

I will say, I definitely wish I was goofy so I could use the prop rotation to my advantage and get that massive wake you guys have

  • can you do a 360 with big fins

  • What size board would you recommend for someone 5:10? Is there a specific brand that you endorse and if so why? Many thanks for your help :)
