Here are some example images of the work done by a couple of undergraduate mechanical engineers at the University of Sheffield. The images are examples of work produced throughout the four year MEng undergraduate degree. The FEA was undertaken mostly on ANSYS and the CFD program used was FLUENT and GAMBIT. Thanks to Barry Tan, Ralph Wilson, Dara Leyden, Nigel Presley and Henry Brunskill for the content.

Very nice presentation the material handling conveyor system would be more typical of most mechanical engineering jobs rather than the CFD and FEA applications. The only thing that would make the material handling engineering "real world" would be using actual purchased parts for common hardware, motor, controls and roller parts. Suppliers will provide specification, solid models and price's on line. Do that and find a customer willing to buy, and you are in business.
