The embraced couple on the lower left corner of the piece at 2.02 is taken directly from a painting by Dubuffet entitled "the Kiss". Fascinating. Thanks for this video of a really great artist..

I have never been too enchanted by her clowning-she is deft and certainly energetic, yet the work, especially the larger ,seems static,in that everything has the same weight, and looks almost tidy-I don't feel the people are real, unless she knows only zombies-it seems almost childish.

its nice to see some figurative works and not that same and tired geometric abstract shit NYC is pedaling these days.

I have seen in reproductions some really great stuff being done out as far as figurative work goes. I like visual images and that can be abstract, realism, lowbrow, etc. If I lived in NYC I would definitely go to this show. Actually if I lived in NYC I would probably attend many of the shows that James posts here. If I wasn't at the openings I would be there after seeing his postings. A good way to see stuff new and stuff that suits ones taste by viewing and then going to what appeals.
If someone was wary about doing expressionist type work this is good example of current expressionism and (someone might jump on this, I am not an art expert) but the forms and colors remind me of low brow art to an extent.

I can understand "low brow" forms, but low brow colors?
BTW I'm a fan of a lot of low brow art as well as kitsch.
