This is a review of the Digital Stream DTX9900 digital video converter. The DTX9950 is the exact same except with a software adjustment to make it analog pass through.
This is the second Digital Television Converter I have owned; the first one was an RCA I picked up from WalMart and it was garbage. This digital stream is much better.

  • this converterbox can be support on a tv cable?

  • Are you asking if this box would be supported by a separate cable box? or

Does this box decode open cable signals as well as DTV?

You have to make your question more apparent for me to provide an answer.

  • can you make one for the venturer one

  • I dont have the funds to purchase another converter box on a substitute teachers pay. But I can sumarise what I have found out about it online; it seems that this converter box has a weak tuner but it does have analog pass through. The guide feature only displays the next hours programing and it has a cheap build quality, the plastic housing may rub some internal parts making them wear prematurely. I would say that if you live in a good signal area it would be a good alternative to this one.

  • How does the picture quality compare to the RCA and other converters? In standard definition.

  • All of the video converters process the same quality of video, and output it to a similar quality analog signal. The differences between them are not that they produce bad pictures its the ability to receive quality signal. The digital stream is more sensitive to the incoming signal so it produces the better quality picture due to the fact that it recognizes more of the signal.

  • The good: Nice remote, onscreen menus are pretty, clear output

The bad: Tuner is horrible, box overheats easily. Tends to DOA after a year or so.

  • It bugs me to see you say it's not dolby digital, you assume it has only left and right audio outputs. But you may as well assume it's not HD since it doesn't have an HDMI output. Those signals are processed from your tv, this box does tune them and lets your set process them. If you don't believe me, switch it out with a cheap sdtv converter and watch your dolby and HD quit working.

  • This box works great-it gives new life to old (1990's and newer) tv's, and it's so small you hardly even notice it.

  • @doboy156 Since I made myself the responder of questions on this video...

Yes, they do work on HD TVs, but only outputs in standard def, so it won't be hd quality. Most HD TVs have built in digital tuners, so you would probably want to use that if possible.

    hope that helps.

  • i have one of these converter boxes too and i was wonderin if they work on hd tvs

  • @Nokorola wow, I posted that comment 11 months ago, what were you doing that time that you couldn't respond for such a long time? I bought one of these, but I don't use it since I dont really watch TV anymore

  • @spearmintmonkey The 9950 allows analog pass-through to allow you to access any low power analog channels in your area.

  • @ValisFan2 I've never had any problems with the main one at my house which we've had since late 2008.

  • @tuzania Yes, if your local channel supplies SAP, there is an "audio" function to access it.
