I have been arguing this point all my life...i remember as a child i would ask my dad why they didnt gang up on the lions..there so big and there's so many of them...looks like they have finally realised :)

Buffalo numbers are high and they are nowhere endangered. Lions are.  Being deprived of an important meal is very sad for this majestic species. I can't cheer for the buffalo. If we can eat beef whenever we want, the lions deserve to as well.

@tbsaint123 if you want to see the most pathetic herbivore vs carnivore showdown, you must see bbc wolve hunting caribou. those caribou are such fraidy cats it is downright shameful. One wolf that they outweigh 4 times over chases nearly a herd of 900 of them, and not once do they try to gang up and fight. Let alone, lions are much bigger than wolves, but also too, buffalo are larger than caribou. but it was still pathetic, that not one caribou fought back.

@tbsaint123 yeah, you have a point there. Speaking of evolution, the lions have evolved to hunt, just as the buffalos have evolved to survive. At least the buffalo fight back more often than not. Have you seen a single wolf chasing a herd of nearly 900 caribou? 1 wolf chasing a herd of caribou let alone one on one the wolve is outwieghed nearly 4 times over, at least. All of the caribou just run, not a single one fights back.

@PAAKWAMEPAA Ok. I wasnt suggesting either animal was smarter...however if you believe in evolution as i do then surely after thousands of years of the same scenario...you would think the buffalo would change it up a little bit.

@tbsaint123 the reason why they don't all gang up on the lions, is because the lions believe it or not, are smarter than the buffaloes. Also, even though the buffaloes are in a herd, they are still not as coordinated as a pride of 10-15 lions. For instance, in a herd of 300 buffalo, if 1 buffalo is taken, it is very likely that another buffalo in that same herd may have never even known the buffalo that was eaten, and subsequently does not care.
